Bidding Chess · free · no download
Chess where every move is an auction
Before every move, both players secretly bid points. The higher bid moves, and pays the bid to the opponent. Win the bids that matter, then capture the king.
How it works
How ChessBid works
- 1
Bid in secret
Both players start with 100 points. Before every move, each of you secretly bids 0 up to your points.
- 2
Higher bid moves
The higher bid makes the next move and pays its bid to the opponent. Win twice in a row and you move twice. Ties go to the ★ tiebreak.
- 3
Capture the king
Normal chess moves, but checkmate isn't enough: you win by capturing the king. In check? Outbid your opponent or lose it.
How Super King Chess works
- 1
A tiny army
White has only a king and four pawns. Black has the full army of sixteen pieces.
- 2
White moves twice
Every turn White makes two moves in a row, Black makes one. A king is in check if the other side could capture it on its next turn.
- 3
Checkmate wins
Black must trap the super king before White's pawns promote. Play against the bot as White or Black, no account needed.

How to play
- Each player starts with 100 points. Before every move, both secretly bid 0 to their points.
- The higher bid moves and pays its bid to the opponent. Total points always stay 200. Win the next bid too and you move again.
- ★ tiebreak: on a tie, a player who attached ★ wins; otherwise the player without ★ wins. Attaching ★ hands it to the opponent if you win.
- No bid in time? You bid 7 automatically (or all your points if you have fewer).
- Normal chess moves and check rules, but checkmate doesn't end the game: capture the king to win. If you are in check, you must win the next bid (and get out of check) or your king can be captured.
- In check with no way out: no bidding, the attacker moves for free. No legal move but not in check: the opponent moves for free.
- Draws: agreement, only two kings left, 100 moves without a capture or pawn move, or the same position three times.
- White has a king and four pawns (c2–f2) but makes two moves in a row every turn. Black has the full army and moves once.
- A king is in check if it could be captured on the opponent’s next turn. For Black that means within White’s two moves. Never leave your king in check.
- White’s king may step through check with its first move, as long as it is safe after the second.
- Checkmate wins. Stalemate, the same position three times, or 50 moves without a capture or pawn move is a draw.
- Black can castle; en passant only right after the double step; pawns promote as usual. Signed in, finished games are saved to My games and wins score on the Super King leaderboard (Easy 1, Medium 2, Hard 3 points).
- Play people online: quick match or invite a friend with a code. Each player has a chess clock (Blitz, Rapid or Classical); rated games between accounts give you a Super King rating.
Arrow keys move around the board. Enter or Space picks up a piece and puts it down on a highlighted square. Escape cancels. You can also type a move in the box next to the board.
